Smart Buy: Used Golf Clubs

Now obviously I believe that used golf clubs (especially used Callaway irons) are a smart buy.  You purchase a quality club, that should have a lot of swings, for a bargain price.  In today’s economy, that can be important.

Today I have guest author Ray Lam, talking to us more about buying used clubs.  It’s not just the fact that the clubs are less expensive, bought used.  Sometimes it’s also the thrill of the hunt!

Smart Buy:  Used Golf Clubs

For the beginning golfer, the cheapest way to obtain your own set of clubs is to buy used golf clubs. Even if you are a veteran golfer, the chance to buy golf clubs at a discount is always appealing. However, the reason for buying used clubs is best for the beginner because you are not really sure what kind of clubs will be best for you.

Where can you find the best pre-owned golf clubs? Many retail outlets do have sales on pre-owned golf clubs. Veteran golfers trade in their used clubs for new ones and the retailer repairs the clubs to make sure that they will perform in the way they should. These golf sets are considerably cheaper than buying new ones, so you not only save money but you will also look good on the course. Being on a budget doesn’t mean you can’t still enjoy playing golf with a good set of clubs.

Check Online

One way to find the best golf clubs at a discounted price is to search online. Here you will find many sources where you can buy brand name clubs at far less than you would expect to pay. There are where you can bid on the clubs so you can determine how much you want to pay for the clubs. The only downside to this is that you will have to pay the shipping costs. There is also the possibility that the clubs may not be in the excellent condition that the seller claims.

The next thing to remember is that you should have a good and strong resistance when you twist the club while gripping it on its grip and clubhead. This shows the durability of the club.

If you have an idea on what brand of golf clubs you’re looking for, or have seen a set of clubs that you like, try to check to see the price difference of a brand new set as opposed to the used ones. Sometimes you can get a real bargain when buying a new set of clubs due to high inventory (or whenever a previous model is replaced by a newer, more popular one).

Caddies and Carts: Give Your Back a Break

Golf is a wonderful and satisfying sport (well, at least most of the time).  But if you’ve been carrying your clubs around the course, you know what a job it can do on your back.  Not so much the carrying (bad enough) but the picking up and putting down that usually gets the back to aching.

So today, I have Peter Mason discussing the advantages of using a golf cart or golf bag caddie cart to get you and your clubs to where they are going.  One expensive, one inexpensive, but both can be back-savers.

Saving Your Back for the Game

Are you a novice golf player that wants to take your game to the next level? Are you tired of lugging your golf bag around the course? Well, there are several options available and it really depends on how much you?re willing to spend. Golf carts and golf caddie carts come in a wide variety to help you take some weight off your shoulders and enjoy your game more.

Most golf courses can rent you a caddie or cart but that can add up especially if you plan on playing frequently. You also will feel better owning something that you can call your own and personalizing it. And let?s face it; it can also be a status thing so you can impress your golfing buddies.

Golf Carts

Let’s start with golf carts, which come in a variety of sizes and options. There are gas powered ones which are better for larger courses since they don’t rely on recharging but they have a downside. Gas powered carts can be noisy and emit exhaust which can be bothersome to you and other players on the course. Most choose an electric golf cart since they are quiet and since golf courses provide charging stations.

Golf carts range in size and brand. There are reputable brands and some that are not as common but in any case most come with a warranty. If you have deep pockets and you really want something luxurious (and to impress your friends) there are even carts made by Rolls Royce and Jeep. These kinds of carts can be customized with many different options and are more for status than for utilitarian purposes.

Golf Bag Caddie Carts

If you don?t want to invest that much money into a cart but still want something to help with lugging your equipment around the course then think about getting a caddie cart. These range in price from a very basic model at about 60 dollars to ones with many features upwards of 1,000 dollars. Features vary but many are just bells and whistles and not really to improve your game (just your back). Some even come with a water dispenser!

Do Your Research

Golf caddies and carts can be found by shopping around on line or at pro golf shops. Before you buy a cart, make sure you take it for a test drive. There is sure to be a well stocked shop if you live in a city that has several golf courses but it’ll be more challenging if you don’t. Also ask other golfers who have carts for their recommendations and check out reviews online.

If you’re serious about golf and don?t want to break your back then look into purchasing a golf cart or caddie cart. It will make your game more enjoyable.

And If You Go With the Cart Option…

OK, now you’ve decided to take the plunge and get an electric golf cart of your own…or you plan to regularly use a rental cart at your favorite courses.  Don’t forget your golf cart bag!

There are golf club bags made specially to be left in a golf cart while you’re playing.  If you’re in need of one, you can find a

Junior Golf Clubs: Choosing the Best for Your Kids

Today we’ll talk about junior golf clubs, for your up-and-coming golfer.  Junior clubs are important for a couple of reasons.  One is just the enjoyment of the game, when your “junior” has the right size and weight clubs.  Which leads to the secondary reason that because the junior clubs do weight less, they cause less fatigue - and a better game!

Today’s guest author is Ray Lam, who will discuss more on choosing the best clubs for your kids.

Junior Golf Clubs: Choosing the Right Ones

There are a lot of different junior golf items that are good to getting a junior started in golfing. Before the junior can begin to play the sport, they need to be well ready for what the game has for them. There are many different clubs and pieces that are used throughout a game of golf, either to make sure that the junior playing can make the right choice to golfing, or just in order to get the junior to play the game at all. Golf is a very fun activity for anyone looking to play the game. The golf world can be very competitive.

When a player is more stable and ready for their first game of golf, both mentally and physically, it is most likely that they will rise in the sport rather quickly. Preparation helps one out in getting ready for the game. Kids can be especially aware about their level in the sports they are in , which is why it can be helpful for the parents teaching these kids to golf to show them how their clubs work and help them learn the basic steps to becoming a golfer.

Keep in mind, today most junior golf clubs are meant manufactured by the top brand names in the world, such as Cobra golf equipment, Titleist, Nike, etc, and are thus usually just as expensive as getting regular golf clubs. Of course, you might be able to save a little bit of money, but generally speaking you’ll end up paying just about the same price. Of course, you can get if price is a necessary consideration.

When you see your young golfer struggling to hit the ball because the clubs are too small, it is time to buy your next set of junior golf clubs. Now, because they do grow out of clubs so fast, you can always buy used golf clubs, sell them, and buy another set. Many tack houses on the golf courses have these used clubs for sale.

For instance, you certainly don’t want to buy a new set of golf clubs every single year, as these are more expensive than shoes are closer other things they used to change annually. When you are purchasing clubs for a junior player, you have to remember that there they will still be growing, and therefore keep this in mind.

Therefore, you should probably purchase them a little taller at first; this way, if they are too tall for your child, they can simply choke up on them until they are the perfect height. Obviously, you can purchase the exact height for your junior player, but just keep in mind that you will have to purchase a new set either every year or every couple eyras, and whether or not this is worth it simply depends on how avid a player your junior is.

Golf Club Irons: Why They Are The Most Important Clubs

Golf club irons are arguably the most important of the clubs in your bag.  But do you know why?  Today’s guest author, Ray Lam, will tell us about these clubs, and why they are such a valuable part of your golf strategy.  Also, who should stay away from what irons?!

How to Master Golf Club Irons

Golf is a great game. It’s nice to get out for a few hours a day and if you walk the course and carry your bag; it is a great way to get some good exercise. Before you can get out on the golf course, though, you need to be sure you get the right golf equipment and one of the most important sets you will purchase is your golf club irons.

Novice and recreational golfers are advised to stay away from 1- and 2-iron. They should even consider replacing 3- and 4-iron with higher lofted fairway woods, 7-wood or 9-wood, because they are easier to hit and produce comparable distance. In general, irons are used for distance that is less than 200 yards from the green.

Irons are the most versatile clubs in the bag, allowing advanced players to hit a variety of different shots with the same club. Irons usually range from numbers 1 to 9, with lower numbered irons having lower lofts. Irons from most companies now claim to have a much lower center of gravity than their older counterparts. They usually come in a set consisting of 8 clubs: 3 iron, 4 iron, 5 iron, 6 iron, 7 iron, 8 iron, 9 iron, and Pitching Wedge. They are used to hit the golf ball off the ground from distances of 125 yards to 225 yards.A set of golf irons are typically identified (numbered) two through nine, a pitching wedge, an alternative wedge, and a sand wedge.

Forged irons - In contrast to cast irons, forged irons feature a full back on the rear of the club head. Hence, forged irons with smaller sweet spot are less forgiving. But forged irons offer more control and extra ‘feel’ than cast irons. Therefore, forged irons are recommended for low handicapper. Graphite shaft irons allows an average golfer to swing the club faster that could add extra distance. You are strongly recommended to use graphite shafts in your irons if your golf swing is slow.

The higher the iron clubs, the more loft and the shorter shaft length is. Graphite shafts are lighter than steel can reduce the overall golf club weight which is good news for all golfers, especially for weaker players such as senior and women. Graphite shaft irons allows an average golfer to swing the club faster that could add extra distance. There are different types of shafts used for irons, and the right choice allows you to make easier and better shots.

Know your game. If you’re only randomly hitting balls then even the best irons won’t be able to improve your game. But if you already know which shots you do best and which ones you need more help then the right choice of irons can make your good shots great and your worse shots fair. Also, consider the prices. Don’t invest too much in your first set because you’re liable to make changes as you get to know your game better. And lastly, always take the chance to try golf irons out before buying!

Women’s Golf Clubs: Helping Your Game

More and more ladies are picking up the golf clubs and learning to play. Whether they are Baby Boomers who are about to retire, starting to golf in their 20’s or anywhere in between, there is one thing they can really, really use.

And that is a set of (Callaway, of course).

Today’s guest author is Ray Lam, who’s going to talk with us on why ladies clubs are different from standard clubs, and ladies, how they can improve your game. Take it away, Ray!

Women’s Golf Clubs

Once upon a time, golf was a male-dominated sport. You pictured retired men on the course, lining up their shots. This is no longer the same today — more and more women are playing, and excelling, at the game of golf. However, there are some aspects which are different between men and women playing golf, and that is in the clubs.

You see, women’s golf clubs are a bit apart from the standard clubs. The standard golf clubs are much more sharply bent than that of woman’s clubs. However, the main area of difference between the clubs used by either gender is that women’s clubs are lighter, more flexible and easier to handle. Oh, and the grips on women’s clubs tend to be smaller than standard clubs.

The weight of the is lighter than men, to allow for increasing the speed of the shot. The ladies drivers are about 12 degrees, whereas in men’s clubs it is about 9 or 11 maximum. This helps the ladies get the ball higher into the air, and moves it faster as well. And of course it’s worth mentioning that there is less fatigue with using a lighter club.

Ladies clubs are usually a tad shorter than that of the men’s, on account of women on average tend to be shorter than men. This helps you when shooting the ball off the tee without any trouble. Why? Because with a golf club of the right length, you won’t have to either bend too much or too less, making it easier to get the shot just right.

The Callaway Golf Ball: Performance Built

The Callaway golf ball has a lot of technology behind it. I know, it seems like this small white round object that has dimples all over. That’s just looks. What goes into Callaway golf balls is another thing altogether.

Dual Core to Increase Performance

The Tour i and Tour ix golf balls are designed with peak performance in mind; to that end, these golf balls have a dual core. Why is that important?

You don’t hit with a driver the same way you might hit with a short iron. Yet the Callaway golf ball takes these differences in mind. For example, when you hit with a driver, you hit with more force, but you don’t want a spin action. The Tour balls have a softer inner core to allow for this.

OK, now you are ready with a wedge. You hit the ball with less force, but want more spin to carry the ball to its destination. The Tour golf balls have a firmer outer core that allows the club to “catch” and increase the spin.

The Callaway Golf Ball Outer Cover

A special technology called RIM (reaction injection molding) allows the Tour i and Tour ix golf balls to have an extremely thin and uniform outer cover. What does this mean to your game?

The more uniform the cover thickness, the better the flight properties, not to mention the short game spin properties. SImple as that.

Learning to Play Golf Without Expensive Lessons

Learning to play golf, without expensive lessons, leaves you with a bit more money in your pocket. Of course when you’re first learning golf, a few lessons might help, but they don’t have to be expensive.

Today I have Eric Slarkowsi as a guest author, and he’ll be talking about this very thing — not going broke while learning to play golf. And after Eric’s posting, take a look at the video on golf swing and how to prevent hitting to the right.

Learning to Play Golf Without Expensive Lessons

Learning to play golf is certainly a hands-on (pardon the pun) process. Still, there are quite a few ways to learn golf that will improve your playing skills. For example, golf training software is a valuable resource in your search for better golf skills. In fact, you will probably be surprised as to how much knowledge and expertise you can gain from golfing software and DVDs.

Golf software, even if directed at the beginner or intermediate, may explain information that the professionals can also use. Easy to follow techniques are explained in a format so that everyone can understand them. Software can accommodate golf enthusiasts of any skill level thanks to the different instruction levels offered and varying costs.

Recent advances are now being applied to golfing software, making learning to play golf easier. Improving your golf game is a good reason to pick-up the latest software or DVD, but there are also many older versions that may suit your needs completely.

Golf is as much a game against your self as it is against another golfer. You face individual goals as well as attempting to score better than your fellow golfers.

Finding the right DVDs or software doesn’t have to be difficult. A friend or co-worker may have some suggestions worked for him or her in the past. You may also want to check with your golf partner, especially if you suddenly notice him or her becoming far more proficient at the game. Find the right information, and soon, other golfers will be asking you how you improved your game!

About the Author:

Eric Slarkowski often creates short articles on news about alicante golf clubs and golfing in alicante. His contributions on alicante golf can be found on his website.

Learning to Play Golf - A Video

Thanks, Eric for that great information on golfing software and DVDs (a great inexpensive idea). Now, as promised, here’s a YouTube video on why you might be hitting to the right instead of straight. It’s short, but goes straight to the point.

Interested in some golf swing DVDs? Here are three ideas.
