Dual Core to Increase Performance
The Tour i and Tour ix golf balls are designed with peak performance in mind; to that end, these golf balls have a dual core. Why is that important?
You don't hit with a driver the same way you might hit with a short iron. Yet the Callaway golf ball takes these differences in mind. For example, when you hit with a driver, you hit with more force, but you don't want a spin action. The Tour balls have a softer inner core to allow for this.
OK, now you are ready with a wedge. You hit the ball with less force, but want more spin to carry the ball to its destination. The Tour golf balls have a firmer outer core that allows the club to "catch" and increase the spin.

A special technology called RIM (reaction injection molding) allows the Tour i and Tour ix golf balls to have an extremely thin and uniform outer cover. What does this mean to your game?
The more uniform the cover thickness, the better the flight properties, not to mention the short game spin properties. Simple as that.
